The Magic of a Quick Coastal Reset

Some days feel like a whirlwind — back-to-back showings, emails, meetings, traffic, errands… life doesn’t slow down, and neither do we.

But lately, I’ve been giving myself permission to hit the reset button. And I’ve found that the best way to do that? A five-minute detour to the coast.

I’m not talking about planning a full beach day or a sunset picnic (although those are lovely too). I mean pulling off onto Scenic Drive in Carmel for a minute of ocean air. Parking near Lovers Point and watching the waves. Sitting in my car with the windows down, just breathing and listening.

It’s simple. It’s quick. And it works.

There’s something about the coast — the salt in the air, the constant rhythm of the waves — that puts things back into perspective. It reminds me that I live in a place people travel thousands of miles to visit. And that in the middle of the chaos, I have access to peace just minutes away.

So if your day feels overwhelming, try a quick coastal reset. You don’t need hours — just a few minutes of stillness can do wonders.

And if you see someone in the driver’s seat next to you, sipping coffee and smiling at the ocean… it's probably me.
