Monterey's Soft Country Side: Fireworks, Line Dancing & Late Summer Vibes

As we start to close out the traditional summer season, there’s something special happening here on the Monterey Peninsula. The fog lifts a little earlier, the days stretch just a bit longer. It’s what locals know as Indian Summer—our second (and arguably better) summer.
And with it comes something unexpected: the Peninsula’s country side.
Yes, country—as in cowboy boots, line dancing, and rodeos. Stick with me.
A Glimpse Into Our Roots
Before luxury golf resorts and coastal tasting rooms, Monterey County was deeply rooted in agriculture and ranching. From the Salinas Valley to Carmel Valley, horses, cattle, and farmland shaped the spirit of this place. That ranch-to-table culture still runs quietly through the community, especially inland, where hay bales outnumber Teslas. You don’t need to be a country music fan to appreciate the ease and the sense of groundedness this season brings.
Speaking of Which...
I’m not a full-on country girl in the sense that you won’t catch me quoting lyrics from Morgan Wallen anytime soon. But I will say this—I still have a soft spot for Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts, and honestly, that’s enough to get me on board with a good country playlist and cowboy hat.
Late summer brings a different kind of energy to the Peninsula—one that feels a little looser, a little louder, and a lot more fun.
I’m talking about:
Line dancing nights at Hacienda in Carmel Valley
Riding with the windows down to Rustics Wines
And my personal favorite—the California Rodeo Salinas
As someone who enjoys fireworks once a year it is a highlight of mine. Especially after trying to find them a few weeks prior during 4th of July and often not suceeding.
What’s Still Ahead

Interested in Country Nights with Coastal Connect?
We’re thinking about starting a group for women who love (or are learning to love) country music. Concerts, line dancing, maybe even a weekend trip or two. If that sounds like your kind of fun, send us a message on Instagram—we’d love to build it with you.
